McKinley Broughton, Sr., 85, of Charlestown, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Sellersburg Health & Rehab.
He was born on May 16, 1929 to Henry and Ellen (Bright) Broughton in Fount, KY. He was a retired checker for Armour Meat Packing in Louisville, KY, and a member of the Kentuckiana Square Dance Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patsy Jean (Powell) Broughton; son, Michael Gerald Broughton; and a daughter, Teresa Annette Sullivan.
Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Broughton-Willett (Thomas) of Shutesbury, MA, and Melissa Brown of Louisville, KY; son, McKinley Broughton, Jr. of Charlestown, IN; brother, Oakley Broughton of Fern Creek, KY; sisters, Marie Newman of Brandenburg, KY, and Thelma Stevens of Louisville, KY; 6 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, and cousins, Sally Patton of Fern Creek, KY, and Bill Ritchie of Louisville, KY.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11 am at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Louisville, KY. Visitation will begin on Monday from 1 pm to 6 pm and after 9 am on Tuesday.
