Mary Elizabeth (Spurrier) Stewart

Mary Elizabeth Spurrier Stewart 76 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at her home.

She was born on March 20, 1948, in Jeffersonville, IN to Robert and Mildred Schlosser Spurrier.  Mary graduated from Charlestown High School in 1967 and was the former owner of Mary’s Stop and Shop in Otisco, IN, and had worked at the Jay C Store in the floral department at Charlestown.  Mary enjoyed working in her flower garden, shopping, watching Hallmark Movies, and spending time with her family.  Her husband Jack Stewart and a sister Emily Williams preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Sherrie Hiler (Scott) of Nabb, IN, Bob Stewart (Tracy) of Charlestown, Jim Stewart (Janie) of Charlestown, and Michelle Graves (Paul) of Nabb; grandchildren, Brittney Hiler, Carrie Hiler, Ryan Hiler, Bobby Stewart, Billy Stewart, Emilee Stewart, Haleigh Graves, Naomi Graves, and Canaan Graves; sisters-in-law, Becky Finkel and Margaret Stewart.

Life Celebration Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington with the burial in Owen Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
