Ms. McCowan was born on June 21, 1935 to Otto and Veta Smith Andres in Jeffersonville, IN and died on Friday February 15, 2008 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
She was a retired supervisor for the army and air force exchange and was preceded in death by her husband James McCowan, brothers, Mike and Otto Andres, Jr., and a sister Agnes Senzig.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her son Dominick Gallo of Lexington, daughters, Veta Ramsey of Charlestown and Cindy King of Lexington, brother Charles Andres of Clarksville and sisters, Pauline Senzig of Clarksville and Dorothy Lynn of Sellersburg, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
