Charlestown

Mary Ellen Hayes, 59, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at University Of Louisville Hospital. She was born on March 24, 1961 in Louisville, KY to William and Nancy Trumbley Hardin.

Mary was a cashier at Casey's General Store in Charlestown, IN for 14 plus years and had formally worked at the Y.M.C.A. daycare and also St. Michael's Daycare and had been a dispatcher for the Charlestown Police Department.  She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, White Castle's and U. of L. Sports.  She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Jeannie Kerger and Susie Criswell.

Mary is survived by her husband of 42 years, David Hayes, Sr.; sons, Chris Hayes (Danielle) of Jeffersonville, IN and David Hayes, Jr., (Regina Dennison) of Charlestown; sisters, Judy and Nancy Williams both of Jay, NY, brothers, Billy Hardin of North Carolina, David Hardin of Ausable, NY, grandchildren, William Hayes, Rebeca Hayes, Lela Hayes, Emma Hayes,  Corbyn Lowery and Adair Hayes.

Life Celebration Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. of Friday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, and after 9:00 am of Friday.
