Mary Louise Correll, born on April 20, 1938, in Ashville, NC, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in New Albany, IN, surrounded by her loving family as she went to her heavenly home. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Mary was a woman of faith. She was an amazing mom, devoted grandmother, and a friend to all that knew her. She was loved and cherished by her children, Dorisann Correll Jennings (Duane) and Dennis James “DJ” Correll Jr. (Jill).
Dorisann and DJ will forever hold dear the countless moments spent together, with beach walks, bowling, playing cards, and Commissary Saturdays. They will also remember her relentless spirit and dedication as a matriarch within her church, where she served as a faithful and obedient servant to the Lord.
Her grandchildren, Cecilia Jennings, Erika Correll (Cameron), Gracynn Jennings, Kennady Correll Jennings, and Lex Jennings, were the pride and joy of her life, and helping to raise them was her proudest accomplishment. Mary enjoyed spending time with them, engaging in crafts that fostered creativity and connection. Her warm presence and wisdom left an indelible mark on their hearts. Loved also by her many nieces, nephews and daughter of her heart, Alicia.
Mary possessed a vibrant personality, described as a force to be reckoned with. She had an enthusiasm for life that included a passion for bowling and expressing her love for football and the game show Jeopardy. However, first and foremost was her Faith to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dennis James Correll, her father, Francis Parker, her mother, Carrie Parker; siblings: Wilma Bell (Elwood), Frank Parker (Loetta), Dewey Parker, Sr. (Sally), Doris Newman (Jack), Sammie-Ann Sellers (Charles), and Sarah Parker.
Mary's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched; her legacy etched in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her influence and love will remain with all who knew her.
Mary left this special poem to share.
“To Those I Love, And Those Who Love Me”
When I am Gone, release me, let me go-I have so many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourself to me in tears, be happy that we had so many years.
I gave to you my love. You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love that you have shown, but now it’s time I traveled on alone.
So, grieve awhile for me if you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part so bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on. So, if you need me, call, and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near, all my love around you, soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and “Welcome Home”
