Marion Chester Hogg, 80, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN.
Chester was born on March 21, 1942, in Whitesburg, KY to Stephen Lowell Hogg and Mattie Stallard Dant. He was a 1960 graduate of Southwestern (Hanover) High School in Hanover, IN where he was involved in FFA and was an excellent student, especially in mathematics. He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years from 1963 - 1969. He worked at Henry Vogt Tube Ice Machine Company in Louisville, KY for over 30 years.
Over the years Chester spent many hours working in his garden and took great pride in keeping an immaculate lawn. He was an avid Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan. Chester was always known for telling jokes and tall tales or playing pranks to get a laugh out of people. No matter where he went, he would find someone to strike up a conversation with.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Brody Curtis, and his nephews Scott Flynn and David Flynn.
Chester is survived by his daughter, Heather Hogg Curtis of Charlestown, IN; granddaughter Makenna Curtis of Charlestown, IN; sisters Glenda Hogg Flynn and Launie Carlene Hogg Harrell both of Charlestown, IN; niece Anji Flynn Wise (Russell) of Charlestown, IN; great-niece Jacy Woods Taylor (Andrew) of Jeffersonville, IN; and great-nephew Luke Woods (Stephanie) of Jeffersonville, IN, great niece, Kayla Daubs (AJ) and her daughters, Naomi and Natalya.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 1PM-4PM at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN with the funeral service beginning at 4PM. Chester’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be a private burial at a later date.
