Marcelene Hoffman ('Toots' Or Marcy) Long

Marcelene Hoffman “Toots” or Marcy Long 91 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 25, 1933, in Madison, IN to Clarence and Lorene Geyman Hoffman.  Marcelene attended St. Michaels Grade School and Madison High School having graduated in 1951.  She had worked at Madison Shoe Company, Madison Bank and Trust, and the Cambridge Inn.  She was a St. Michael Catholic Church member, an original member of the Charlestown Beautification Committee, a Senior Citizen, a former Cub Scout Den Mother, and treasurer for the Little League Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John F. Hoffman and his wife Mary Helen; sister, Ilene Anger and her husband, Robert; brother-in-law, Stanley W. Haines; daughters-in-law, Joan Powell Long and Suzanne Phillips Long; son-in-law, Troy Vessels.

Survivors include her husband, David Long whom she married on January 28, 1954.  They have four children, Jeffery Long (Hope) of Clover, SC; Mark Long of Underwood, IN, Susan Harkness (Bobby) of Paoli, IN and Dennis Long (Cinnamon) of Charleston, SC; sister, Mary Haines of Cincinnati, OH, cousin, Bill & Shirley Oswald of Batesville, IN; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Madison, IN at 1:30 pm.  The visitation will be at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
