Maggie Smith, 90 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Friday February 20, 2015 at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany, IN.
She was born on July 15, 1924 in Oil Springs, KY to Lawrence and Ollie McKenzie Fairchild. She was a mother and homemaker and a member of the Low Gap Southern Baptist Church in Oil Springs, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Arthur C. Smith, daughter; Janeen Cook, sister; Moncie Williams, brother; Hubert Fairchild, and granddaughter Jackie Smith.
Survivors include her children; Ronnie Smith (Marilyn) of Memphis, IN, Archie Smith (Martha) of New Washington, IN, Dianna Howard (George) of Lexington, IN, Dexter Smith (Elaine) of Charlestown, Lena Fraley (Clarence) and Karen Wihlon (Patrick) both of Charlestown and 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with visitation from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday and after 9 a.m on Wednesday.
The family would like to thank Wendy and Kim and the staff at Providence for their loving care they provided for our mother.
