Lucy Rose Whalin 86, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Monday April 20, 2015 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN.
Lucy was born on May 3, 1928 in Middlesboro, KY to Milton and Lucy Bomar Powell. She was a retired superintendent for Olin Mathison Inc. , and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Charlestown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Harold E. Whalin, daughter; Kathy N. Gibbs, brother; John Powell and grandson; Michael W. Gibbs.
She is survived by her son; John Whalin (Terri) of Charlestown; sisters; Mildred Slatten and Bennie Wyatt (Perry), grandchildren; Jason Whalin, Matthew Whalin, David Gibbs, John Gibbs, Adam Lorey, and Mindy Stone; great grandchildren; Blake Gibbs, Ryan Whalin, Hayden Whalin, Hank Whalin, Molly Jean Whalin, Kye Stone, Jullian Lorey, Jalynn Lorey, Jasmyn Lorey, and Harley Koetter and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am to 8 pm on Thursday and after 9 am on Friday.
