Linda Gale Bagshaw-Fields passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at Norton Clark Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana, surrounded by family. Linda will be remembered as a dedicated teacher, spouse, friend and Christian. Born on August 21, 1945 in Whitehouse, Tennessee, Linda's family moved to Indiana when she was 6 years old. She graduated from Henryville High School in 1963 and received her teaching degree from Morehead University. Linda taught math at New Washington High School for 32 years, retiring in 2002.
Retirement was good to Linda. She and her husband, Kenny, put many miles on their RV traveling throughout the United States. They spent winters snow birding and enjoying the warmth in Zapata, Texas. Her hobbies were of a quiet nature – she was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and Sudoku. She enjoyed having a garden and anxiously awaited the first ripe tomato of the season. In recent years, she quilted several beautiful blankets. One of Linda's favorite pastimes was mushroom hunting, when she would get giddy upon finding a morel. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed a Dairy Queen banana split now and then.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Kenny Fields; daughter Amy (David Cagle); son Tony Bagshaw (Anne); stepsons Cameron Fields (Jen) and Brandon Fields (Jennifer); brother-in-law Dale Fields (Harriett). She was a proud grandma to Madison Fields, Macy Fields, Mason Fields, Ellie Fields, Grace Garrett (Kirby), Grant Bagshaw (Maddie) and Sarah Bagshaw, and great grandma to Autumn Garrett, Lyla Garrett and Graham Garrett. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Myrtle Brown Lamberth, sisters Donna Zollman and Terry Malcheski, and grandson Colby Russ.
Family and friends are invited to honor Linda's life and memory. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, from 4-8pm, and again on Thursday, June 18, from 9-11am. A Celebration of Life will follow on Thursday at 11am. Linda will be laid to rest at Charlestown Cemetery on Harrison Street.
