Linda Gale Bagshaw - Fields, a dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at Norton Clark Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 21, 1945, Linda lived a life marked by devotion to teaching, family, faith, and a rich tapestry of hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment.
Linda’s professional career was defined by her unwavering commitment to educating young minds. She taught for 32 years at New Washington High School within the Greater Clark School System. Her extensive education, culminating in a master's degree plus 30 additional credits, exemplified her lifelong pursuit of knowledge and excellence in teaching. Linda took great pride in being a member of the Stony Point Christian Church, where her faith and fellowship were as central to her identity as her vocation.
Beyond her career, Linda was a woman of many interests and talents. She loved traveling out west in her motor home, exploring the beauty of states such as Wyoming, Arizona, and Texas. A gifted quilter and an avid reader, she delighted in the quiet pleasures of crossword puzzles and savoring fresh vegetables, particularly tomatoes, which she carefully preserved through canning and freezing. Linda also enjoyed mushroom hunting, attending Church Ladies Luncheon trips, and socializing over games of cards and dominoes. Her family fondly remembers her sweet tooth for banana splits and snickerdoodle cookies, as well as her fondness for a savory plate of cheesy potatoes—comfort foods that reflected her warm and nurturing nature.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth Fields; her daughter, Amy, and husband David Cagle; her son, Tony, and wife Anne Bagshaw; and her stepsons Brandon Fields and wife Jennifer, and Cameron Fields and wife Jen. She was a proud grandmother to Macy Fields, Madison Fields, Mason Fields, Ellie Fields, Grace Garrett and husband Kirby, Grant Bagshaw, Maddie Bagshaw, and Sarah Bagshaw. Linda’s legacy further extends to her great-grandchildren Autumn Garrett, Lyla Garrett, and Graham Garrett, who each bring her memory to life in their own special way. Also treasured in her life was her brother-in-law Dale Fields and wife Harriett, who provided additional family support and love.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Myrtle Brown Lamberth; her sisters Donna Zollman and Terry Malcheski; and her beloved grandson, Colby Russ, who remain forever in the hearts of those who knew them.
Family, friends, former students, and community members are invited to honor Linda’s remarkable life and legacy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, June 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, Indiana. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Linda will be laid to rest at Charlestown Cemetery on Harrison Street.
