Larry Travis Whitehead, age 77, of Charlestown Indiana died peacefully at his home on March 5, 2021, with his loving wife Karen Pierce Whitehead by his side. He was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late Anna Mae Froedge on August 22, 1943 and was raised in Utica Indiana. He married Shirley Ann Adams on December 8, 1962. Larry and Shirley were blessed with five children, and after a few years of marriage Larry moved his family to Charlestown Indiana. Larry worked in the plastic injection molding department at Cabot, Celanase and Nibco piping for over 35 years. During this time, he had several part-time jobs. He worked as a deputy for the Clark County Sheriff’s department and was a member of the FOP. He also worked as a park ranger for the Clark State forest (his favorite job). Larry’s last job was working for the Greater Clark County School System. Larry was a very spiritual person and devoted his life to Christ.
Larry is survived by his wife, Karen Pierce Whitehead, children, Dale Whitehead (Jill), Robin Whitehead Stamper (Mark), Melissa Whitehead (Tim), Mary Whitehead Suddeth (Pat) and Michael Whitehead Sr. (Gerri); grandchildren, Kelly Johnson Usowski (Nathan), Larry Dale Whitehead Jr. (Megan), Belinda Johnson Dabney (Brent), Tyler Raymer, Jacob Whitehead (Kristen), Garrett Raymer, Michael Whitehead Jr. and Justin Johnson; great grandchildren, Colin Usowski, Brennan Usowski, Charlotte Dabney, Elliott Dabney and Isla Faye Whitehead; his fur babies, Bell, Boss and Tipper.
Funeral services for Larry Whitehead will be conducted on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Grayson Funeral Home. Visitation will also be on Sunday from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Charlestown Cemetery.
