Larry J. Harden (84) passed away May 14th, 2025, in Union City, GA. He spent a life in ministry but was also a pretty good preacher by most counts. After graduating from Lincoln Christian College, he went on to preach in Barryton, MI, Columbus, OH, Kalkaska, MI, Lancaster, IL, and Wheatland, IN. He then became the Resident Manager of Inner-City Mission in Springfield, IL, where he could minister to homeless women and families. Following a rewarding tenure there, he often joked that his mid-life crisis was deciding that his ministry would be as a funeral director, specializing in family pre-care and after-care. He graduated from Mid-America College of Mortuary Science in Jeffersonville, IN, and went on to serve the Charlestown, IN, community with Grayson Funeral Homes for many years.
A short time following the loss of his wife Dee in 2003, he decided to look for a small community church where he could semi-retire and ended up at Lake Park Christian Church in Lake Park, GA, where he ministered until medical issues essentially forced actual retirement. While serving in Lake Park, Larry married Madeline Dasher, and they were blessed with 10 relaxing years together.
Larry is survived by sons Rob (Ivy) Harden and Roger Harden. Stepsons Walter (Becky) and Wendell (Wanda) Dasher. Brothers Rex Sr., Kenneth, Blayne, and sisters Annis Kurts and Linda Massengale.
Preceded in death by parents H.E. “Red” and Bernece Harden, brothers Ronnie and Lester, sisters Leta and Lila, and grandson T.J.
Final arrangements are pending at this time.
