Listen to Obituary

Larry R. Edwards, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away at his home in Charlestown, Indiana on May 25, 2026. Born on August 14, 1949, in Scottsburg, Indiana, Larry lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep love for his family and community.

Larry was the son of the late Sid Edwards and Fern Edwards. He was previously married to his first wife, the late Louise M. Gordon Edwards. At the time of his passing, Larry was lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca Edwards. Together with her children and their families, he found great joy and companionship. Among them are Lesley (Nelson) Bowen, and grandchildren Angel Brown—who also served as his caregiver—Harley Bowen, Nelson L. Bowen, Michael Griggs, David Griggs, and a number of great-grandchildren who brought light to his later years. The family circle extended to Bobby Dale (Carri) Shepard and his family as well, all of whom held Larry close in their hearts.

Larry's familial ties also included his brother Don James, along with Don's wife Sandra, and their children Scott, Aaron, and Ryan Edwards. His sister Elaine Reagan, married to Bill Reagan, remains a significant figure in his life, along with her children and Larry’s cherished niece Brandy Henson and nephew Bradley Henson.

Raised in Marysville, Larry graduated proudly from New Washington High School. Throughout his youth, he worked diligently mowing lawns and at various gas service stations before embarking on a long and rewarding career at the General Electric Assembly Plant in Louisville, where he worked until his retirement. His sense of duty was further demonstrated by his enlistment in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War era, where he served honorably before being discharged.

Larry had a passion for restoring historic cars, a hobby through which he expressed his love for craftsmanship and history. He was also known for his generosity in helping others and his appreciation for good food, often enjoying the daily specials at the American Legion in Sellersburg, where he built many lasting friendships. His faith was important to him, and he was an active member of the Church of God on Edgewood Street in Charlestown, Indiana.

A graveside service to honor Larry’s life will be held at the Emmanuel Church on Old Highway 3 in Marysville, followed by a meal at the Church of God, where friends and family will gather to remember and celebrate his life. The date and time of his graveside service will be shared in the coming days.
