Larry John Bates

Larry John Bates 77 of Georgetown, IN passed away on Sunday morning December 8, 2024, at his home.

He was born on August 15, 1947, in Whitesburg, KY to John D. and Mattie Sergent Bates.  Larry served in the Army Reserves and was an American Legion Post 335 member in Charlestown.  He retired from Phillip Morris, Inc. in Louisville, KY where he was a purchasing manager.  He enjoyed golfing, playing and coaching tennis, riding motorcycles, and supporting Indiana University Athletics.

Larry is survived by his wife Jeanette Crace Bates, daughter, Tania Howard of Sellersburg, IN, son, Damon Bates (Tasha) of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Keslyn Copas, Mason Bates, and Sawyer Bates.

Life Celebration Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown. Visitation will also be at the funeral home from 9:30 am until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will follow at Charlestown Cemetery.
