Krista Lynn Hopwood Simpson, 53 of Charlestown passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center at Norton Pavilion in Louisville, KY.
Krista was born May 17, 1962 in Jeffersonville, IN the daughter of Raymond Lee and Mary Louise Druin Hopwood. She was a legal secretary working for Jefferson Circuit Court in the Commissioner’s Office in Louisville, KY, a member of the Charlestown First United Methodist Church and was baptized in the Christian Faith. Krista was a cheerleader for Charlestown High School graduating in 1980 and Indiana University Southeast, an avid Bunco player, Colts and Indiana fan.
Survivors include her daughter, Alyse Simpson Cook(Tyler) of Sellersburg, IN; Mother, Mary Louise Hopwood of Memphis, IN; granddaughters, Marley Householder and Piper Cook; sisters, Janis Hall(Alan) of Memphis, IN, Diane Harmon of Charlestown and Rhonda Hopwood of Sellersburg; brothers, Kevin Hopwood(Mindy) and Neil Hopwood(Teresa) both of Memphis; nieces and nephews, Michael Hopwood(Casey), Kristopher Hopwood(Danielle), Alex Hall, Meredith Hall, Sarah Hopwood and Victoria Hopwood; great-nieces, Braylee, Braxton and expected soon Lily. Krista was preceded in death by her father Raymond Lee Hopwood, companion, Steve Pence and brother-in-law, David Harmon.
Funeral services will be held on at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Charlestown First United Methodist Church with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown and from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Sunday at the funeral home and after 1:00 P.M. Sunday at the church until time of services.
