Kenneth “Tad” Ney Findley, Jr., 76, of Sarasota, FL, passed away on May 24, 2022. He was born in Evanston, IL on March 8, 1946, Tad spent his early years in Wauwatosa, WI with his parents, Kenneth Ney Findley, Sr., and Elizabeth Fry (Gorton), and his two sisters.
He served in the Army Reserve in the 1960s which brought him to Wilmington, NC where he later worked as a DJ for a local radio station and met his wife, Janet (Taylor). In 1970, they moved to Schaumburg, IL where he began working for the family business, Findley Adhesives Inc., and continued doing so for nearly 20 years. Tad had a passion for boating and owned a yacht sales company in League City, TX, and later continued to show his entrepreneurial spirit as part-owner of several other businesses.
Throughout his career, he and his family moved around the country and had the opportunity to live in Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, California, and Florida. He especially loved his time up at the farm in Indiana with his Trinity United Presbyterian Church family as well.
Tad was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janet, and their two children: Cynthia Klein (David) of Decatur, GA, and Kenneth “Scott” Findley III (Colette) of Truckee, CA. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy Rowland of Racine, WI and Barbara Norris of Surprise, AZ; his brother-in-law Fred Taylor of El Cajon, CA; two grandchildren, William, and Alex; a grand-dog, Max; and numerous nieces/nephews (John, Betsy, Meg, Vicki, John, Lisa, and Susan), cousins and many cherished friends.
Memorial service arrangements are entrusted to Grayson’s Funeral Home in New Washington, Indiana. A memorial gathering (CHANGED FROM ORIGINAL PLANS) will be held on June 29, 2022 at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in New Washington, Indiana, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am until 10:00 am.
10:00 am Service at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in New Washington, Indiana. Graveside service to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, also in New Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in the memory of Kenneth Findley, Jr. be made to the Alpha-1 Foundation, Boys Town, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Network.
Due to travel and the current rise of illness, the family respectfully requests that anyone attending the services, please were a mask.
