Listen to Obituary

Kenneth Eugene Taylor, Sr., 61, affectionately known as Kenny, passed away on July 26, 2026. Born on February 16, 1965, in Herrin, Illinois, Kenny was a lifelong resident of Charlestown, Indiana.

Kenny was a man who embraced life with passion and sincerity. With the rumble of his Harley-Davidson beneath him, he found freedom and joy on the open road. His love for adventure was rivaled only by his appreciation for casting a line out on the water or patiently waiting in the woods during deer season. He found peace and meaning in the great outdoors. A skilled gardener, Kenny was known for his abundant tomato plants-always destined for his favorite bologna sandwich. Kenny was also a proud brother at the American Legion Post 335. His involvement reflected a deep respect for community and a desire to honor those who came before him. Above all, Kenny was a devoted grandfather who dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren. Moments with them were among his most cherished.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Duncan and Judith Taylor Holderfield; and his 2 twin brothers.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Taylor; children, Kenneth Taylor, Jr. (McKayla) and James Taylor; step-children, Michael Smith (Cathie) and Tammy Smith (Kevin); brothers, Kevin Jeralds (Kim), Curt Messamore (Karen); 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen following Kenny's wishes and a Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the American Legion Post 335 (1199 Basham Drive, Charlestown, IN).
