Kenneth Lawrence Reed, 96, of Madison, IN passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Davis Elderly Care in Madison.
He was born May 3, 1914 in Clark County, IN the son of J. C. and Madge Heddington Reed who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Haycox Reed and a sister Louise Hardy and brother-in-law Dr. Lester Hardy.
Mr. Reed was a retired Navy Commander serving in World War II and Korea. He also served as an advisor in the mid 1950's in the Republic of Vietnam. He was also a retired manager for Sears & Roebuck in Madison. He was a member of the Madison V.F.W. Post 1969, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and attended the old Saluda High School where he played basketball.
Survivors include his daughters, Anita Reed, New Washington, IN and Mary Louise Yunker(Gordon), Radcliff, KY; son, John L. Reed(Connie), Madison; six grandchildren, Debra Hatton(George), Madison, John R. Gregory and his companion Elias Rosales, Dallas, TX, Dr. Marcella Gregory, Sacramento, CA, Jacqueline Cooper(Jason), Alabaster, AL, Kandy Saporito(Frank), New Port Ritchie, FL and Kenneth L. Reed II, Louisville, KY; five great-grandchildren, Sashinka, Nikolai, Andrew, Miranda and Jeremy.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July16, 2010 at the Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Friday until time of service.
