Karen Lynn Johnson passed away at her home in Port Richey, Florida on Tuesday September 23, 2025, after a 9-month battle with Lung Cancer. She was 60 years old.
Karen was born on January 18, 1965, at Clark County Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN to Charles Wesley and Pamela Kay Johnson. She graduated from Charlestown High School in 1983 where she was a cheerleader for 4 years. She finished Interior Design and Medical Coding courses and worked numerous jobs over the years finding happiness in her freedom.
She loved the water and enjoyed boating with her father on the Ohio River. She will be missed by many friends from Madison to Louisville. Ten years ago, she moved to Florida. She and her fiancé, Rick Osborne, would take his jet ski to a sand bar on Saturdays to hang out. Karen was a very talented decorator and could make any place look modern and chic. She had a kind heart and loved animals. A friend told her about a King Cavalier that had lost the use of one of her legs. Karen adopted the dog and nursed the newly named “Mia” back to health. Together with Rick and her Chihuahua mix, Josie they were a happy sun-loving family.
Survivors include fiancé Rick Osborne, her mother Pam Shearer of River Crossing Assisted Living Facility in Charlestown, Indiana, father Charles Johnson (Patricia) of Prospect KY, brothers Brian Rice and Michael Rice(Tracy), nephew Jackson Rice, as well as aunts, uncles and many cousins.
An open house celebrating Karen’s life will be held at 407 Harry Hughes Road in Charlestown, IN at her cousin’s residence on Saturday November 8, 2025, from 2-5 pm. Cremation was chosen.
