Junior Harbin, 82 of Louisville, formerly of Charlestown passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown.
Junior was born on February 3, 1932 in Clark County, IN the son of William and Virgie Brison Harbin. He was a former employee of General-Electric Appliance Park in Louisville and was a partner with his brothers in the 1970’s at Harbin’s Marathon in Charlestown. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War serving on the U.S.S. Nereus and the U.S.S. Erben, a former member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Charlestown, a current member of St. Clemons Catholic Church in Louisville, a former member of the Charlestown American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Sally Harbin; daughters, Lynda Kent, Paula Caudill and Shelia Day(Rick) all of Charlestown; son Michael Harbin(Jill) of Sellersburg, IN; step son, Thomas Powers of Louisville, KY; brothers, Albert Harbin(Glenith) of Pekin, IN, Donald Harbin of Lexington, IN, Larry Harbin(Patricia) of Hibernia, IN and Gary Harbin(Penny) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Joni, Derrick, Billy, Danny, Kevin, Amanda, Andrew, Adam, Allison, Jeremy and Jeffrey; step-grandchildren, Scott and Patty; great-grandchildren, Ciara, Makayla, Mason, Marshall Cody, Kaci Jo, Laci, Kelsie, Kashmir, Kawliga and Cooper; step-grandchild, Tara. Junior was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Rae Grote; step-daughter, Kathy Summit; step-grandchild, Ellen Bott.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
