Joyce Yvonne Martin, 66, of Charlestown, IN, was born on January 15, 1950. She departed from this life on Sunday, April 17, 2016.
She was a private person with a strong personality and was loved by many. She was baptized at Little Flock Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, IN. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Charlestown where she was a trustee. Joyce graduated from Charlestown High School in 1968. She got her degree at Sullivan College in bookkeeping and went to work for the Charlestown Water Company. She worked for the water company until her retirement. She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Martin; step-father, David C. Thomas, Sr.; sister, Brenda Marie Barr.
She leaves behind her mother, Henrietta Thomas; brothers, Lonnie Biggers of Flint, MI, Kem Martin (Angela) of Charlestown, IN, Thomas Drew Martin (Gwen) of Louisville, KY; sisters, Mary Blevins of Jeffersonville, IN, Ann Martin, Rochelle Martin, and Denise Roberts all of Charlestown, IN; step-brothers, David Thomas, Jr. (Bernetta) of New Albany, IN, Wayne Thomas (Linda) of El Paso, TX; step-sisters, Sharon Robertson (Johnny), Lynn McAfee (Frank) all of Louisville, KY; close friend, Don Yeager; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lots of friends
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 1pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in the Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday after 10am till the time of the service.
