Joseph Ernest Batcher, 75 of Jeffersonville passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
Joe was born August 21, 1938 in Louisville, KY to the late Joseph E. Batcher, Sr. and Evelyn Sanders and was the stepson of Rollin Young. He was preceded in death by his wife Donie Fay Meacham.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran with two foreign tours of duty, licensed pilot, and member of Clark Co., IN Senior Air Patrol Squadron. A Supervisor at McLean Trucking Co. for 23 years then retired as Coater Foreman from Westvaco Paper Co. after 17 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jeffersonville and his hobbies include Bluegrass banjo player, fishing, flying and travel.
Survivors include his wife Linda Lesch Batcher, Jeffersonville, IN; two sons, Steve Batcher, Lebanon Junction, KY and Kevin
Batcher, Georgetown, IN; one grandson Sean Batcher; great-grandson Kael Batcher; brother Kenneth Batcher; two stepsons Brent and Kent Harris.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Resthaven Cemetery in Louisville, KY. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday and after 9 am on Monday. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
