Mr. VanMeter died Wednesday May 21, 2008 at his home.
He was born on October 3, 1925 in Henryville, IN the son of Thomas and Georgia McKnight Van Meter. He was a retired welder for the Logan Company in Louisville. A member of the north Charlestown Church of God, V.F.W Post 1427 and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Abbott VanMeter; daughters, Patricia Smith and Sheila VanMeter both of Charlestown, Shirley Kizer, Nabb and Paula Gill, Marysville; son, Larry VanMeter, Charlestown; step-son, Robert E. Vest, Jeffersonville; sisters Mary Walden, Charlestown and Nancy VanMeter, Madison, IN; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
