John M. Powell, 84 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Sunday May 4, 2014 at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, IN.
John was born on December 13, 1929 in Harlan, Kentucky to Milton and Lucy Bomar Powell. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War and a retired mechanical engineer for General Electric where he worked for 37 years.
Survivors include his daughters; Tammy V. Carter of Cincinnati, OH, Melissa J. Burke (Bruce) and Kristen Booth (Stewart) both of Charlestown, sisters; Mildred Slatten and Lucy Whalin both of Charlestown and Bennie Wyatt of Jeffersonville, IN, grandchildren Sean Carter, Jordan Burke, Sarah Booth, Rachel Booth and Makenzie Hinkle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday May 8, 2014 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 pm to 8 pm and after 9 am on Thursday.
