John Thomas Merriman, 69, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2016 at his home.
He was born on April 11, 1947 to Thomas and Violet (Watkins) Merriman in Danville, KY. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, owner/operator of Merriman Construction, member of the American Legion Post 204, and VFW Post 1427. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Donna Merriman.
Survivors include his wife the former Sherrill Tetrick of Charlestown, IN; sons, Derek Merriman (Jessica) of Lexington, KY, and Matthew Merriman of Charlestown, IN; brother, Jerry Merriman of Charlestown, IN; sister, Carol Smith of Clarksville, IN; grandchildren, Saxton T. Merriman, Santiago Mendez, Diego Cornejo, and Finley Kern; step-son, Jeramy Kern of Charlestown, IN; step-daughters, Dorothy Bower of Jeffersonville, IN, and April Cornejo of Charlestown, IN.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home, with burial in the Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday from 4pm to 8pm, and after 11am on Saturday.
