John Everett May, Sr., 86 passed away on Friday August 26, 2011 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born on December 19, 1924 in Clark County, IN to Jasper Newton and Addie Bell Helen Eldridge May, Sr. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, retired from Naval Ordinance, was a diesel mechanic, and a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife the former Stella Elizabeth Starrett, sons: John Everett May, Jr. (Phyllis) of Otisco, Edwin Durand May (Joan) of Ft Myers, FL, and Adrian Louis May of Hibernia; sisters Geneva Drury of Borden and Wyona Hall of Charlestown; 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Charlestown with burial in Hibernia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington and after 12 p.m. on Wednesday at the church
