John Hamner, 75 of Otisco IN passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN. John was born on November 12,1945 in Bedford, IN to Harold and Ruby Worl Hamner. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. John owned his own painting contracting business, enjoyed going out for dinner, and visiting the casinos. During his younger years, John was a high school jock, he won many state competitions in Pole Vaulting and was one of the first high school athletes to Pole Vault over 12 feet. John enjoyed watching the Colts play football while throwing his slippers at the tv.
John is survived by his children, Romona Thibeault of West Brook, ME and John Thibeault of Falmouth, ME; brothers, Dean Hamner (Kathleen) of Tyrone, GA, Mark Hamner (Rose) of El Paso, TX, and Alan Hamner (Cindy) of Bacliff, TX; stepdaughters, Kelly Torstrick (Art) of Otisco, IN and Mona Brown, New Albany, IN; and stepson, Brian Kemp of Carlisle, IN along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Hamner, his second wife, Martha Hamner, and his fiancé, Betty Kemp.
Cremation was chosen with a memorial service to be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 beginning at 1:00 pm at the Nabb Presbyterian Church, Nabb IN.
