John Edward Goedeker, Jr., 67, of Charlestown, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Norton Healthcare Pavilion.
He was born on November 4, 1946 to John and Loretta (Schindler) Goedeker, Sr. in Clark County, IN. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, a retired diesel mechanic for CT Hertz Company, member of Troop 80 of Boy Scouts of America, American Legion Post in Sellersburg, IN, VFW Post 1427, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Aiden Maples, and brother, Jim Goedeker.
Survivors include his wife, Diana (Richey) Goedeker of Charlestown, IN; daughters, Loretta Christine Goedeker of Charlestown, and Rita Diana Goedeker-Profitt of New Washington, IN;
brother, Joseph H. Goedeker (Margaret) of Otisco, IN; sisters, Anne Bryant of Charlestown, IN,
and Geneva Schlagter (Dave) of Charlestown, IN; grandchildren, Karen Profitt, Jasmine Neal, Jason Profitt, Jr., and Andie Maples.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 10am at the St. Michaels Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the St. Michaels Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 1pm to 8pm at the Grayson Funeral Home, and after 9am on Friday at the funeral home.
