John Matthew Gibbs

John Matthew Gibbs 49, of formerly of Charlestown, IN passed away on December 13, 2021, in Jeffersonville, IN.

He was born on June 17, 1972, in Louisville, KY to Harold and Kathy Whalin Gibbs.  John was a commercial fisherman who enjoyed hunting, horse racing and cooking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Annette Gibbs, brother, Michael Gibbs, grandparents, Harold and Lucy Whalin and Urey and Bernadine Gibbs, aunt and uncle, Phyllis and Jim Street.

Survivors include his brother, David Gibbs of Haines City, FL; nephew, Blake Gibbs of Charlestown, IN; uncle, John Whalin (Terri) of Charlestown; cousins, Jason Whalin and Matthew Whalin both of Charlestown, Sam (Lonnie) Street and Judy Street Rattien.

Life Celebration Services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be after 10:00 am on Thursday.  The family would like to invite all of John's friends over to the VFW Post in Charlestown following the service.

John's family respectfully ask that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the funeral home to help cover expenses.
