John Melvin Becker, Jr

John Melvin Becker, Jr, age 83, of Mims, Florida, and formerly of Louisville, KY passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the VA Medical Center Lake Nona in Orlando, FL.

He was born on November 8, 1942, in Jefferson County, KY to John Melvin Becker, Sr, and Dorothy E. Becker. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping, taking shrimp to his church and family, and traveling to Las Vegas. 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Janet Sue Becker and a grandson, Johnson Michael Abbott.

He is survived by his brothers, Tommy Becker (Colleen) of Floyds Knobs, IN and Larry Becker (Laura) of Floyds Knobs, IN, nephew, Jeffery Becker (Cissy) of New Albany, IN, great-niece, Tristen Belle Becker, of Louisville, KY, his step-children, David Abbott Sr. (Cheri) of Charlestown, IN, Hiram Eddie Abbott of Louisville, KY, and Lucy Hein of Harrodsburg, KY; grandchildren, David Abbott Jr. (Dakota), Erica Abbott (Brady), Matthew Abbott, Morgan Abbott, Timmy Hein, and Jennifer Hein; great-grandchildren, Baylor Abbott, Ryder Odle, Easton Abbott, several nieces, and nephews, and his caregiver, Tara Double.

Life Celebration Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Cooper Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday and after 9:00 am on Saturday. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery.
