JoAnna Cox

JoAnna Cox, 72, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026.

Throughout her life, JoAnna was known for her warm heart and the deep love she held for her family and friends. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, often finding joy in exploring flea markets and indulging her passion for junking. The outdoors called to JoAnna-she found peace and happiness beneath open skies, surrounded by nature.

Those who knew JoAnna will remember her as someone whose greatest source of pride was her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless treasured moments. Her home was always a gathering place for laughter, stories, and warm embraces. Friends were treated like family under her roof, and her kindness left an enduring mark on all who had the pleasure of spending time by her side.

She was born on January 23, 1954 to the late Shirley Brown and Mary Duncan Brown. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Hobert Brown, Louise Young, and Tommy Brown.

JoAnna is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, David Cox; daughter, Tabitha (Robert) Nelson; son, Josh (Della) Cox; grandchildren, Tyler (Justice) Cox and Matthew Cox (Vanessa); and great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Addison, and Walker.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Grayson Funeral Home - New Washington Chapel, (206 East Main Street). Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Barnes Cemetery in Nabb, Indiana.
