Jerome Humphrey Peters

Jerome Humphrey Peters, 92, passed away on Saturday August 24, 2013 at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany, IN.
He was born on December 13, 1920 in Marysville, IN to Harry E. and Carolyn Laverne Humphrey Peters.  He was a graduate of New Washington High School and a 1942 graduate of Indiana University Bloomington where he was a manager for the IU Baseball team and was selected as an “I Man” for which he was very proud.  He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and former owner of Peters Insurance and Real Estate in Charlestown where he also was a member of the Charlestown Christian Church, Lions Club, American Legion Post 335 and the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred Peters and sisters Kathleen Kimberlin and Ora Lee Cole.
Jerome is survived by his sons; John C. Peters and his wife Joyce of Fairfield, ME and Stephen J. Peters and his wife Paula of Fishers, IN and a daughter; Jo Lynn Brown of Plano, Texas and 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and 1 due any day now.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday August 28, 2013 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
