Janice Lajean (Sims) Benavides

Janice LaJean Benavides 69 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Friday November 17, 2023, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 15, 1954, in Orlando, FL to Lester and Maxine Carnley Sims.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was preceded in death by her father and husband Fred Benavides.

Survivors include her daughters, Becky Hill (Mark) of Charlestown, Janice “Munk” Benavides of Charlestown and Tammy Hayes (Mark) of Kilgore, TX; sons, Fred Benavides and Donald Benavides (Amy) both of Charlestown; mother, Maxine Day of Dangerfield, TX; brother, Lester Sims of Jeffersonville, IN; sisters, Frances Johnson of Winter Haven, FL and Norma Sullivan of Dangerfield, TX; grandchildren, Jessica Young (Paul), Stefanie Frazier (Scotty), Cody Hayes (Becca), Lindsi DuRall (Michael), Destiny Bibb (Jackson), Amelia Benavides, Roxana Martinez, Cruz Martinez, Carissa Benavides, Brian Manning; great grandchildren, Addyson Hill, Delilah Manning, Cash Hayes, Rolan Bibb, Morgan Frazier and Dakota Frazier.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Charlestown Cemetery.
