Janet Jones, age 81 of Charlestown, IN, passed away on October 12, 2025, at the University of Louisville Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, mom, mamaw, and a dedicated member of her community. Born in Owen Township on July 11, 1944, to the late William and Rhoda May Crider, Janet enriched the lives of those around her through her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.

Janet dedicated 48 years of her life to serving as a tax preparer at H&R Block in Jeffersonville and surrounding communities, where she achieved the esteemed position of Master Tax Preparer. Her commitment to her work enabled her to help countless people navigate the complexities of their taxes. As a testament to her unwavering dedication and expertise, she was awarded the Henry Bloch Excellence in Client Service Award. Janet was an active member of the Main Cross Baptist Church in Charlestown, where she embraced her role not only as a devoted minister's wife but also as a beloved figure among her congregation. Janet was an ardent prayer warrior, known for her sincere faith and love for God, which permeated all aspects of her life.

Janet’s home was a nurturing haven for her family. She was well-known for her cooking, particularly her famous fried chicken and mashed potatoes, which brought warmth and joy to holiday gatherings. The magic of the Christmas season came alive in her home, filled with the sights and smells that made it a cherished retreat for her loved ones. An avid flower lover, Janet would regularly adorn her yard with beautiful blooms, and those passing by in the summer could not help but notice her vibrant garden.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Jones; her son, David Jones (Wendy); her daughter, Leigh Ann Martin (Bill); her daughter, Jenny Gray (Doug); and her daughter, Chrissy Yeager (Kenny). Janet was also the proud mamaw of Kalynn Haymaker, Kelsie Dickey (Kyle), Jon Yeager (Ashley), Megan Birke (Chris), and Josh King, and a joyful great-mamaw to 13 great-grandchildren.

Her absence will be profoundly felt among her family and friends. Janet was truly a remarkable woman whose legacy of love, generosity, and hard work will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known her.

Life Celebration Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 16 at Main Cross Baptist Church in Charlestown, located at 145 Main Cross Street. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday and again on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in Owen Creek Cemetery.
