James Alan Vesel “Jim”, 82, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on Thursday, September 17, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN.
Jim was born on July 2nd, 1933 to Victor Vesel and Alice Cole in Chicago, IL. He was a lifetime teacher and football coach. He was part of the inaugural staff at Trinity High School, followed by 3 years at Franklin County High, and finished his career at DuPont Manual High.
Jim is a member of the Jefferson County Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He was also an avid auto racing fan.
Survivors include his life companion, Beatrice Custred; sons, Michael and Steven Vesel, both of Louisville, KY, James A. Vesel Jr. of Mattawan, MI; daughter, Victoria Vesel of Kalamazoo, MI; brother, Keneth Vesel (Carol) of Utica, IL; sisters, Nancy Brace (Richard) of Arcadia, FL and Alice Butts (Doug) of Peru, IL; grandchildren Matthew Vesel and Tracy Dixon; great grandson, Mitchell Vesel and great great granddaughter Autumn Vesel.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 6:00 PM at Grayson Funeral home in Charlestown, IN. Visitation will also be on Monday after 3:00 PM until time of service.
