James “Jimmy” Thompson, 62, of Charlestown, passed away on Sunday, June 25th at Baptist Health Floyd. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his son Brad Thompson of Charlestown, his daughter and son-in-law Krystyl and Jason McGuire of Houston, TX, his mother and father-in-law Loretta and Cecil Boone, his mother Ginny, his siblings Donnie and Carla, and several beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He is also survived by his pride and joy, and his greatest gifts- his grandchildren- who he greatly helped influence by his shining example of love and kindness: Nataley Thompson, Leah, Jenna, Mitchell, and Norah McGuire.
An avid lover of all animals, he leaves behind his four-legged friends Paco and Lucy, rescuing and offering a loving home to numerous others over the years. His other passions include road-tripping, playing the guitar, listening to rock music, and being a mechanic in many different aspects throughout his life.
We’ll miss working on cars with you, sharing coffee with you, painting walls, and building decks with you. We’ll miss your advice, your silly jokes, your bonfires, and your firework shows… but we’ll never forget the way you made us feel. Thank you for the love, the quality time, for working hard for us, and for dropping everything to be by our side. We’ll love you forever. Godspeed, until we meet again.
