In Memory Of
James Michael “Mike” O’Brien, age 71, of Jeffersonville, IN and formerly of River’s Bend, Chester, VA, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2015 in Scottsburg, IN. He was born April 19, 1944 in Alderson, WV to James E. and Helen Martin O’Brien. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Utterback and Patricia Light, and one brother, Frederick O’Brien, all from the Alderson, WV area.
Survivors include his loving wife and companion of 52 years, Patricia Hash O’Brien, two sons, James Michael O’Brien II(Kim) of Jeffersonville, IN and John Markus O’Brien of Lexington, KY; grandson, James Conrad O’Brien of Jeffersonville, IN; one sister, Kay O’Brien Ratcliff(Robert) of Barboursville, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy(Class of 1962) in Fork Union, VA and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He also graduated from Bluefield Junior College and Concord College in Athens, WV. During his private sector career, he worked for National Electric Coil in Bluefield, WV, Central Supply Company in Banner, Kentucky, Scherer Industrial Group in Lexington, KY, Citation Group in Lexington, KY and Electrical Mechanical Resources in Richmond, VA.
Grayson Funeral Home in Hanover, IN will be handling the final arrangements. Per Mike’s wishes, he has chosen cremation and a private graveside services at the family cemetery in Alderson, WV. Condolences may be sent through www.graysonfuneralhome.com.
