James Earl Thompson

James Earl Thompson 75 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 13, 1948, in Bardstown, KY to Harry and Lillie Lewis Thompson.  James was an army veteran of the Vietnam War, a retired press operator for Discount Labels where he worked for 25 years, and a member of American Legion Post 335 in Charlestown.  He enjoyed watching IU basketball, going hunting, fishing, and playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Thompson and sister, Dolly Tipton.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Thompson; daughter, Shonna Bohannan and her husband Jim of Charlestown; brother, Tommy Thompson of Boston, KY; grandchildren, Brandon Wills and his wife Courtney of Charlestown, Brittany Wills of Charlestown, Jimmy Bohannan, Jr; great grandchildren, Eliana and Braelynn Wills; brothers-in-law Danny Deaton of Charlestown, and Jack Deaton of Harrodsburg, KY; sisters-in-laws, Jodi Wilson of Taylorsville, KY, Betty Sutherland of Hanford, CA., Joanne Thompson of Bardstown, KY; and many nieces and nephews.

Life Celebration Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday.
