Listen to Obituary

Jackie "Jack" Lynn Scull, 84, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, whom he affectionately called "Blondie". Born on July 9, 1941, in New Amsterdam, Indiana, Jack spent his life rooted in the rolling hills and close-knit communities of Southern Indiana, the place he proudly called home.

Jack was known far and wide for his unwavering work ethic, his steady reliability, and being the kind of neighbor everyone dreams of having. After graduating from New Albany High School, he became involved in the family business, Scull Trucking, where he logged countless miles across America. Later, Jack dedicated 32 years of service to Ford Motor Company at the Kentucky Truck Plant. During his retirement years, Jack continued to work on various projects and loved nothing more than being outdoors on his tractor.

Jack had a special knack for making his surroundings look beautiful. His energy was endless, and his generosity in helping others was unmatched. Jack embodied the ideal standard of "Love your neighbor. He lived by that motto every day; in fact, his neighbors affectionately called him the "Mayor of Bethany Farms". For Jack, no road was ever as meaningful as the one that led him home to Charlestown, where he and the love of his life, Susie, shared 43 wonderful years.

Through the seasons of life, Susie was by Jack's side. They loved to travel, gather with friends, and enjoy long evenings of laughter and playing a competitive game of cards. One of Jack's favorite pastimes was watching college basketball, rooting for his favorite team, the Indiana University Hoosiers. As a natural athlete, Jack continued to play basketball and softball well into his late 50s. For many years, he enjoyed hosting his children and grandchildren at his home for a Christmas Eve celebration where he'd light a good fire and enjoy the excitement of everyone being together.

Though Jack's faith was quiet and personal, it was woven through the generations of his family. Today, we find peace in knowing that his journey is complete and that he is home with the Lord.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, David Edward Scull and Thelma ldena Scull, his brother Jerry Scull, and his stepson, Terry Wayne Young. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Ann Scull; his sister, Susan Kay Carl (John); his children, Jack T. Scull, David (Kelley) Scull, Kimberly Strong, Karen (Todd) Blue, and Thomas (Rachel) Young; and his cherished grandchildren, Tristen & Liam Scull, Gracie, Isaac & Bella Blue, Samantha, Chandler & Benjamin Strong, and Conrad Young, who will forever carry his outgoing personality, work ethic, and strong sense of integrity in their hearts.

Visitation will be held at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 5:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at the Clark County Conservation Club in Utica, IN, where family and friends will gather to share stories and honor the remarkable man who made such a lasting impact on so many. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hosparus Health Southern Indiana, 502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150, or online at www.hosparushealth.org. Their care and compassion meant so much to Jack, Susie, and their family.
