Jack Jefferson Jones, 97 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Sellersburg, IN.
Mr. Jones was born November 22, 1917 in Corbin, KY the son of Robert Boyd and Teresa Burton Wyrick Jones. He retired from L & N Railroad after 25 years of service and was the last retiree of L & N, which is now a part of CSX Railroad. Jack also owned and was a broker of Jones Reality, worked for Dupont in the old Powder Plant in Charlestown, but during all these occupations he was always first a Farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Charlestown and his passions were family and work.
Survivors include his daughters, Doris Ann Jones of Plantation, FL and Barbara Jean Anderson(Charlie) of Sellersburg, IN; son, Thomas Jefferson Jones of Charlestown; grandchildren, Felicia Carmen Schneidman(Josh) and Travis Jefferson Jones; great-grandchild, Samuel Schneidman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Emma Irene Jones; daughter, Sharon Faye Jones; sister, Bertha Sturgill.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. until time of services. Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations in memory of Mr. Jones to First Baptist Church in Charlestown.
