Jack L. DeVary, 88, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Jack was born on June 11, 1933, in Sellersburg, IN the son of Albert and Anna Spencer DeVary. He took pride in being known as a Farmer and serving his country in the United States Army. Jack was always working and an example of that was when he finally retired from farming, he worked for over a decade at the Superior Vault Company, in Charlestown, in the paint room. He was a former member of the Sellersburg V.F.W., a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, and was a collector of cans.
Jack is survived by his children, Anita Haulk (Eric) of Austin, IN and Raymond L DeVary (Brandi) of Charlestown, IN; step-son, George Cherry of Charlestown, IN; sisters, Joyce Bottorff of Charlestown and Katie Pierce of New Albany, IN; grandchildren, Tajauona, Ray, Christopher (Ashley), Jonathan, Brandi (Austin), Billy (Amber), Brian (Alicia), Bryan, Desiree, Ashley, Alexis, Michael, Joey, Tammy, and Tonya; several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Johnson DeVary; brothers, Paul, Mike, Don and, Jim DeVary; granddaughter, Sarah Lindsey Haulk; and his later in life companion, Bernice Muncy.
Life Celebration service will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Sunday until 1:00 P.M.
