Irene Mae Stewart, 91, of Madison passed away Saturday August 6, 2011 at Waters of Clifty Falls.
She was born on October 27, 1919 in Switzerland County, IN the daughter of Everett and Vollette Scudder. She worked several jobs the Randall Factory, Shoe Factory in Vevay, Canning Factory in Columbus, IN, Meeces and Farming. She was a member of North Madison Baptist Church, enjoyed cooking, baking, flowers and always taking care of others.
Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn L. Morris(Earl), Vevay, IN, Beverly J. Purdy(Don), Kingsland, GA and Delores “Dee” Simmonds(Bob), Hanover; sister-in-law, Juanita Chatham, Vevay, IN; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, John William Lewis whom she married on June 27, 1939 died in 1960, second husband, Charles David Stewart whom she married on June 23, 1973 died in 2010; brother Harold Scudder and grandson David Morris.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel. Grayson Funeral Home, Hanover is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.
