Hugh Stephen Holder, Sr

Hugh Stephen Holder, Sr., 83 of Underwood, IN passed away on Saturday February 5, 2022, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN.

Hugh was born on August 19, 1938, in Utica, IN to Noble and Evelyn Brendle Holder.  He was a retired mechanic for John Deere and a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carolyne, daughter, Vicki Cole, sisters, Sarah McLean and Barbara Cartright, brothers, John Holder and Donnie Holder.

Survivors include his son, Hugh S. Holder, Jr., and his wife Denise Whitlow of Scottsburg, IN; daughters, Anna Henson and her husband Don of Marysville, IN and Margaret Johnson of New Washington, IN; brothers, William “Bill” Holder of New Market, IN and George Holder of Viper, KY; grandchildren, Hugh S. Holder, III, Rory Holder, Marvin Johnson, Joshua Murphy and Maria Bates and her husband Christopher and a great granddaughter, Memphis Lynn Bates.

Life Celebration Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Beswick Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Friday.
