Hilda C. (Brown) Howard

Mrs. Hilda C. Howard, 91, of Charlestown, IN (formerly of Floyds Knobs, IN) died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1927 in New Albany, IN to Victor and Loretta Brown. She retired from the New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Charlestown, IN. She enjoyed quilting, reading, working in her flower gardens, and listening to her music in the evenings. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. (Bill) Howard, whom she married on August 17, 1944; daughter, Therese (Teri) Howard; brother, Ben Brown; sister, Edith Weber.

Survivors include her nine children, C. Richard (Linda) Howard of Speed, IN, Crystal (Morris) Quick of Floyds Knobs, IN, Timothy Howard of Las Vegas, NV, Anthony (Bonnie) Howard of Fredericksburg, IN, Joseph Howard of Sellersburg, IN, Dominic Howard of Charlestown, IN, Matthew Howard of Sellersburg, IN, Peter Howard of Louisville, KY, and Michael Howard of Charlestown, IN; all her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren; sisters, Vivian (Don) Lung of Lanesville, IN, and Mary Brown of New Albany, IN; brother-in-law, Bob (Carolyn) Howard of Memphis, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11am at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Charlestown, IN, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 2pm to 8pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, and after 9am till 10:30am at the funeral home.
