Herman Richard Sharp, Sr., 88, of Charlestown, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born on January 20, 1925 in Bardstown, KY. He was a retired truck driver for the old A & P Grocery. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a member of the American Legion Post 335 in Charlestown and the VFW Post 1832 in Jeffersonville, IN, and he was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses of Charlestown. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Oscar Lee Edward Sharp.
Survivors include his wife, Patty (Ison) Sharp; sons, Herman Sharp, Jr. of Lanesville, IN, Robert Edward Sharp of Lanesville, IN, and James Clyde Webb of Otisco, IN. 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 10:30am at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in the Indiana Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm and after 9am on Thursday.
