Henry Newton DeWeese II, better known as Hank, age 61, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on March 29, 2026.
Hank was the first child of Henry Newton DeWeese Sr. and Mary Grace DeWeese (Palmer), born on May 29, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at 11:29 p.m. He spoke fondly of childhood visits with his grandparents, along with his many cousins, aunts, and uncles. His most treasured memories were from early life in Texas with his siblings Jimmy, Johnny, and Judy, along with many friends, and from his time in ROTC and track, where he holds a record in the 800-meter dash.
His adult years were spent working as a diesel mechanic alongside his parents, Henry and Grace, and his siblings Jimmy, Johnny, Judy, Clinton, and Amanda. He enjoyed working on cars with his father, Henry, and his brothers. He met the love of his life, Rosie, in Indianapolis, Indiana, in June of 1985, and they were married on June 18, 1989. Together they had four children whom he cherished dearly: Brandon, Kevin, Angela, and Aaron.
Hank enjoyed working on classic cars, hunting, and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his sons and his nephew, Matthew. Later in life, he enjoyed time with family and friends and was blessed with two nieces, ten nephews, and many honorary children along the way. His favorite part of life was watching his granddaughter, Jupiter, grow up.
Hank was preceded in death by his father, Henry DeWeese Sr.; his father-in-law, David Duff; his maternal grandparents, Arthur S. Palmer Sr. and Mabel Palmer; his paternal grandparents, William DeWeese and Mary F. DeWeese; his uncle, Arthur Palmer; and many other close family members and friends.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Rosie Bell DeWeese; his mother, Mary Grace DeWeese; his children, Brandon DeWeese, Kevin DeWeese, Angela Holland (Zack), Aaron DeWeese, and Matthew DeWeese (Heather); his siblings, Jimmy DeWeese (Linda), Johnny DeWeese (Tammy), Judy DeWeese, Clinton Palmer (Bobbie), and Amanda Holcomb; and his granddaughters, Jupiter Holland and Blossom Holcomb. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: John (Brittni), Chris, Jacob (Samantha), Corey, Shalyn, Jesse, Maxwell, Layla, Morgan, Paula, and Wesley; and his great-nieces and great-nephews: Novella, Kayden, Violet, Emily, William, Charlotte, Jackson, Chandler, Maddie, Brantlee, and Charlotte.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Grayson Funeral Home, 893 High Street, Charlestown, IN. Cremation will follow and his ashes will be spread at a later date.
