Helen “Bootsie” Ortensie, age 83, of Charlestown, IN passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Riverview Village in Clarksville, IN.
Mrs. Ortensie was born March 8, 1929 in East Bernstead, KY the daughter of Willie and Maggie Green Herron. She retired from ICI Americas in Charlestown and was a Union Steward, and also worked as a self-employed caregiver. Helen enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons David Ortensie(Shirlene), Jeffersonville, Kenneth Ortensie(Mary), San Antonio, TX, Ronald Ortensie(Carolyn Davis), Otisco and Donald Ortensie, Charlestown; daughter, Sandra Ortensie, Charlestown; sisters, Eva, Lorene, Jan, Barb, Jean and Lou; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bonnie Ortensie, son, Steven Ortensie, sister, Ruth, brothers, James and Bill, and grandson Steven.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M Saturday, September 15, 2012 the Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. and after 9 A.M. Saturday until time of service.
