Gregory "Jr" Raney, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Charlestown, Indiana. Born on May 28, 1969, in Jeffersonville, Greg lived a full and vibrant life marked by a remarkable career and a warm, outgoing personality that touched the lives of many.
After dedicating 27 years to Ford Motor Company, Greg retired with pride and a sense of accomplishment. His work ethic mirrored his character—steadfast, reliable, and grounded. Known for his great sense of humor and a temper that was notably short, Greg had the unique ability to connect with anyone he met. He was a man who could speak candidly and openly—we always knew exactly where we stood with him. His funny, loving, and outgoing nature made him a cherished friend, always ready to share a laugh or a kind word.
A true nature lover, Greg’s passions were many. He eagerly looked forward to deer and turkey hunting trips to Nevada, indulging in his deep appreciation for the outdoors. Boating and spending time at the beach were sources of joy and relaxation for him, as was collecting turkey calls and mounts—a testament to his dedication to his hobbies. Most importantly, Greg adored his granddaughter Willow, cherishing every moment spent loving on her and watching her grow.
Greg's family was the center of his world. He leaves behind his mother, Karen Raney, who nurtured and supported him; his daughter, Hannah (Sydney) Raney, who carries forward his legacy; and his cherished granddaughter, Willow Ledwedge, who brought immense happiness to his life. Greg’s brother, Gary (Karen) Raney, and nephew, Tanner (Lauren) Hutt, also survive him, along with his beloved fur companions, Chief and Scout. They share the sorrowful loss of Gregory Alan Raney Sr., Greg’s father, who preceded him in death, as well as his earlier fur buddy Roscoe.
The community and family will gather to honor and celebrate Gregory "Jr" Raney’s life at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed immediately by a funeral service. The final resting place will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, Indiana.
Greg’s straightforward honesty and loving spirit leave a lasting imprint on all who knew him. Though he has departed this life, his laughter, warmth, and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His journey may have ended, but his enduring presence continues among those who loved him dearly.
In honor of Greg's memory, we encourage everyone to prioritize mental health, lead with kindness, and remind those around them that they are never alone. Mental health matters, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
