Gilbert Oram Decker

Gilbert Oram Decker, 79 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN.

Gilbert was born on January 14, 1942 in Grayson County, KY the son of the late Oscar and Nelma Newton Decker.

Gilbert was a simple man he spent most of his career in factory maintenance. He also farmed and was the owner operator of Decker’s Food Mart on Highway 62 in Charlestown. He loved God, family, and all people. Gilbert spent his retirement cherishing time with family and especially his grand kids.

Gilbert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jennie Towery Combs Decker; sons, Gilbert Decker of Charlestown, IN and David Decker(Margaret) of Marysville, IN; daughter, Sandy Meredith(Ron) of Charlestown, IN; brothers, Robert Decker(Susie) of Clarkson, KY and Ronnie Decker(Melissa) of Leitchfield, KY; sisters, Faye Sego, Betty Saltsman(James), Ina Green(James), Josie Chambers(Ernie), Diane Ward(Randy), Charlene Downs(Barry) all of Leitchfield, KY; brothers-in-laws, Harlan McGrew and Elroy Cook of Leitchfield, KY; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tina Decker; brothers, Orin, Oscar, Jr., Harold and Timmy Decker, sisters, Mary McGrew and Elaine Cook; grandson, Jimmy Meredith and a great-grandson Johnny Daniels.

Life Celebration Services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Underwood, IN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday
