Freddie "Gene" Akers, Jr., of Charlestown died Thursday April 12, 2012 in Jennings County as a result of a truck accident.
He was born on May 9, 1963 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. to Freddie and Betty Stanley Akers. He was a former foreman at Ohio Valley Door in New Albany and a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter; Rebecca Akers of Charlestown; mother, Betty Akers of Charlestown; brother, Scotty R. Laxton of Charlestown; sister, Linda Akers of Jeffersonville and grandson Kaelob Akers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday April 17, 2012 at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington with burial in Hibernia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday and after 9 A.M. on Tuesday.
